Anyone hear of this?
My husband ran his first full marathon yesterday. He is a big runner and finally decided to train for the full and do it, but was hit with leg cramps at mile 19 which slowed him down.
He spoke to a marathoner today who told him drinking pickle juice when you cramp up is the cure for that - anyone ever heard of this or try it?
I am training for my full (again - I woosed out - I did the half instead yesterday) and would love to know there is something for cramps!!!

I know a lot of trainers use pickle juice. There's a study here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19997012 that shows it has some validity, though the mechanism is unknown. There's also a blog post here: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/09/phys-ed-can-pickle-juice-stop-muscle-cramps/ talking about it. And another one here: http://www.good.is/post/how-pickle-juice-changed-the-world-of-sports-food-innovations-from-the-football-field/0
