I have been working out very hard and eating 1,000 calories more than I was before. I feel 100x better. I have more energy and I can get up in the morning with ease. I am slightly concerned that 4.5lb is a lot of weight gain. It doesn't really add up. How is my body storing that much water/calories. Do you think I was in starvation for so long that it's storing this food "in case of emergency" in fat?

Just curious what my body is up to more than anything. I am sticking to the plan - business as usual.

If that is where you need to be according to several sources, stay there. Wait for a month before freaking out - your body will do a little gaining before it levels out.

Also, has your sodium intake increased a little with the extra food you are eating?

I can hold up to 6-7lbs.

I'm holding 5 right now, it's fine just stick with it if that's the correct calories you should be eating.

I'm not worried about it - I should have made that a little more clear.

I am just curious what my body is doing internally (chemically) since I've never really ate like this before.

Yes.. my sodium yesterday was through the ROOF. I was so happy through the day because it was so low and then I ate some baguette and WHAM I saw the sodium spike in the log.

Wow - did you jump straight up by 1000 or take it up slowly?

If you jumped up fast, you will gain some water weight as your glycogen stores are replenished.

WOW! How did I not know ANYTHING about this. Obviously my stores were at 0. That's the weird thing. I feel bloated but I look smaller. I thought I was going insane.... very cool article and that helped explain it well.

I worked out like a monster today... ate all my calories back. This is so odd to me. Haha
