Maybe this would work in your area? No one wanted to drive 25+ miles to join official wt loss groups in the larger town...a group of gals in the neighborhood started something local. I'm intrigued by what they are doing and their success.. It was a group of 7 until i just came on board, and in 2 months they lost 67 lbs between them (highest individually at 13 lbs).
We put $10 in the kitty at the beginning of the month; measurements and weights are recorded in a log book, with pics taken..
Each week there's a weigh-in together. Weights are logged. Ideas shared about what is working for each, the challenges, sharing new recipes, giving general support etc.
Each month, for every pound (or fraction of) you lose, you get 50 cents back. Whoever loses the most gets the rest, ie 50-60 bucks. One gal is using her 'winnings' for a new clothes fund
I feel motivated again. Maybe instead of yo-yo'ing up and down i will be able to get a line of progress moving...thought i'd share in case others could benefit.

That is a great idea!!!!
Nothing like local support from each other and not giving your money to the BIG corporations that don't even have your best interest at heart.................

Glad that you think its a great idea too! After my first meeting with them, i can see other benefits too, like getting to know some of my neighbors better. I was almost moved to tears by some of the conversation, just knowing that they really understood the frustration and obstacles i feel (unlike my husband or my kids who i usually share with, but they just don't understand the same). Plus, when one gal gained 8 lb in one week (had just gone on insulin) and was so discouraged she was going to throw in the towel, no one would LET her give up.
i appreciate your response.0
