I would add "The River" by Bruce Springsteen. Sometimes my husband has to tell me to lay off the Springsteen because I get too depressed listening to that song and a few others. "Walk Like a Man" comes to mind...

The story he tells on the live version of the song about the rift between him and his father - his dad said, "I can't wait until the army gets a hold of you. They're going to make a man out of you." And how he failed his draft exam and when he gets home his dad asks how it went. Bruce said, "They didn't take me". His dad said, "That's good. That's good."

Also by TSO - Music Box Blues. That is a sad one, especially hearing Diamond Daryl sing it on the CD. It's amazing.

    Black Lab - This Night

I love Black Lab so much. This Night is an amazing song and so nearly made my list.
The acoustic version of Gates of the Country did have me in tears.

Boyzone (or the Cat Stevens original) - Father and Son
Westlife - Seasons in the Sun
