Ok I went to the doctor today and indeed do have a inguinal hernia. I had one as a small child in the same spot and I guess the area got weak again with a mix of these new exercises and heavy lifting at work (I unload trucks and put out freight). My question to you guys is any advice on keeping my weight loss going when I have the surgery? I know I won't be able to do a lot for at least a couple of weeks and I guess my kickboxing exercise is out of the question for a while. At least the abs part since I put a bit of strain on my stomach doing those. My diet has become much better and I know I can do my walking but any other ideas? Would love some feedback on this.

I had umbilical hernia surgery (my innie was turning into an outie) and had the netting put in to make sure I would never ever have it again. Exercise was the LAST thing I wanted to do for a few days. During that time I simply monitored my diet and and after a few days got back into walking. Within 3 weeks I was golfing again. Good luck!

Thanks! I remember my husband had double hernia surgery a little over a year ago and he had a pain pump. I know he thought it was a big pain to tote around. When I had my surgery it was the early 80's (I was only 4 so I don't remember it) but I'm sure they didn't do the mesh thing back then. I'm going to speak to the doc but figured I'd get some feedback before I see them.
