Protein Shake Programs - Help!

Sorry if this is a topic that seems to be constantly be repeated.. but my roommate & I are weighing our options between the various Protein Shake / Meal Replacement programs...

Such as:
Herbalife
Body by Vi
Advocare
Beachbody Shakeology
Nutrilite

Amongst others..

Has anyone tried these and programs and has success, or failure with them? There are pros & cons to each of them...

Any help or feedback is appreciated - Thanks!!

Why not just buy your own protein and use it as a supplement rather than a meal replacement?

I have lost over 200 lbs using TSFL with a Health Coach. This was a great program for me because it:

    1. Elminated the continue temptation to eat off, because you did not need to think about eat except for once a day
    2. It broke all my addictions to food, cause it got me off of sugar, Corn Syrup, Diet Sodas, and was very healthy (100% of what you need in a day, in five meals)
    3. I have continual councilling, kept me from going to far off track
    4. Did not require high amounts of exercise (exercise was for health, not for weight loss)
    5. Was adjustable so as I changed, the program changed with me
    6. Taught me great habits to keep the weight off.

This was really fast for me, I lost the 200 lbs in about 15 months and averaged 4 lbs a week. I would recomend it to anyone needing to lose weight and have seen it be successful in most who have tried it and were committed.

When looking at a program like this, you need to make sure that it has the science and support behind it to make it work. If you are all alone, it will not work.

    Good Luck!

Shakes are fine. Shake "programs" are rubbish.

Instead of being a jacka$$ I decided to edit this...

Eat Food. Use Shakes to supplement your protein when you aren't reaching your macros.
    It's that simple.

I just had to google TSFL... eating prepacked food that is part of a "program" is far from "teaching you great habits".

With very little effort, you can sort out what you need without having to buy $16.00 bags of snack pretzels branded for a weight loss company.

    I agree.

Learning about nutrition is more important than following directions for a prepackaged food program. It's dependence on these sorts of diets that make transitioning to real food/going to parties/restaurants hard.

Learn nutrition and portion control, learn to assess what condiments/food preparation will be detrimental to your goals, then make your diet based on that. It's more practical.

I love to have a shake for breakfast...its much better than skipping breakfast which is what I used to do. I have been using GNC lean shake 25 for this purpose. I also make one and add the wheybolic protein powder after I lift weights. So satisfying. I also like that I can drop in GNC any time and don't have to "sell" anything to use it.

Why is a shake much better than skipping breakfast? There's nothing wrong with skipping breakfast, unless it affects your workout performance or throws off your hunger levels, or something like that.

I use the Body By Vi and I really like it. I have Fibromyalgia and it has helped me a LOT. I know people on here don't look highly on the "shake diets" but I have a difficult time swallowing food. I have gurd and my throat closes up. I would live off these shakes if I could because they don't hurt me and I can swallow them. I make myself eat regular food at least once a day because I feel I should but every time I do, my throat closes and and I have difficulty breathing. You do what you know is best for you. Everyone here has good intentions I believe, they just don't live in the body you live in and no one knows it better than you :)
