How does Iron Man pick up Thor when he's holding his hammer?????

I mean, Thor is a pretty big guy, you'd think Iron Man would need both hands. Plus, isn't it hard to reach his hammer while wearing his metal suit, or is there an easy access point?

Not sure what the comic book explanation for this is, but the hammer only seems to be super heavy when Thor isn't already carrying it. Don't question the movie physics.

I dunno.... someone else asked me the question. I mean, Iron Man isn't a small guy either. With that ego it probably takes both hands to hold his hammer.

    I just saw it yesterday.
    Spoiler
I guess maybe it happened in the first fight scene after Thor took Loki from the plane? Iron Man threw Thor a couple times in that scene, but I don't remember if Thor was holding the hammer.

Used to work for a rental company, the handyman used to walk around singing all day:
"If I had a hammer, I would hammer all day"
I always thought it was creepy......

But what I want to know (and I haven't read the comic books or seen The Incredible Hulk, so this may be a dumb question) is, why was Hulk attacking the good guys without control on the flying carrier but could control himself in the battle at the end?

Yes you can lift Thor with his hammer. Only if he's not holding it will it remain on the ground. Hulk's done it a few times.

And Iron Man is strong enough to lift Thor in flight.

And people said reading comics all the time would never come in handy. Ha!

My question since the movie has been why did the Hulk attack "friendlies"? He normally goes against the bad guys at least in the series with Bill Bixby. He got angry, attacked the bad guys then would run off to cool down. Also ALWAYS wanted to know, how does the jeans fitting "little man" ONLY shreds at the bottom and NOT at the waist? I mean the Hulk is MORE built/form then the little guy??

I asked my daughter why his shirt comes off but somehow his pants stay on and she said "to keep it decent."

Because when he goes into Hulk-mode when in a rage, he can't control himself. When he goes into it by his own will, then he has more control.

Ah. Thanks. That does make some sense.

I think it's because he chose to change at the end, but earlier in the movie, it was more of a fear / self-preservation thing. Could also be that he didn't quite trust SHIELD's motives yet, or was still being influenced by Loki (as everyone seemed to be pretty combative in the room at that time).

It's a folk song by Peter, Paul, and Mary from the 1960's...it's about freedom, google the lyrics~

Mjolnir can only be weilded by Thor. but her weight wouldn't be added to his when he's fighting. in Thor the ice giants tossed him around when he was holding her too. as long as he's weilding her, or holding her, she's the weight of a sledgehammer. if someone w/o the power of Thor tries to pick her up on their own, they can't lift her.

Mjolnir is mystical in the sense that only Thor can "lift" it to wield it. As long a Thor has it in his hands, he can be picked up. Look at any of his old comics and you'll see that in many battles this has happened.

Sorry this is comic book science but is an anomaly within that science. Since Thor is holding his hammer the excessive weight property is null.

My dad had some old comic books from the 1960s lying around and I used to read them over and over and over. I love this stuff!

I think the answer is all in the antecedent.
