I have been doing my walking in an old pair of lightweight hiking shoes and my feet have been killing me. This morning I decided to visit the ****'s Sporting Goods down the street from my hotel. I am very glad I did.

The young lady working the shoe department is a runner. Great luck for me. I explained to her that I needed a good pair of shoes for walking and perhaps eventually for jogging, that I am a newbie, and that I didn't have the slightest idea about athletic shoes.

She asked me several questions, including how much I wanted to spend, watched how I walk, and then said I needed stability shoes. She presented me with two pairs of Brooks and one pair of Asics. I tried them all on and walked around in them.

Neither of the Brooks felt like they supported the arch in my foot very well, but the Asics 1170 felt perfect to me. I just got back from a mile walk to go get something to eat and these shoes feel wonderful! My feet didn't bother me at all while walking.

I had no idea a pair of shoes could feel so good or make such a huge difference.

Awesome! I tried the Asics but ended up getting the Brooks Glycerine9 . They seemed to work best for my feet.
