Body Pump VS NROLFW

Hey There everyone, So I am looking to really tone up for my wedding in September. I have about 10-15lbs I want to lose for the wedding, but I could care less about the number as long as I look sleek and toned in my dress and for my honeymoon in Bali. I am debating about doing body pump 2 or so times a week or doing NROLFW. Has anyone compared the two? which did you have better results with?

I do Pump a couple times a week and think it is an awesome class. While it is a weight lifting class, it is more of a total body metabolic workout rather than strength training. There are a ton of reps in each track and you cannot go as heavy as you do in the weight room because of that. NROL is tradifional strength training with HEAVY weights. I think you would get faster results with NROL than Pump since you would be lifting heavier.
  • i've never done NROLFW, but i do body pump a few times a week and love it! :)

Body pump is more cardio/light weights. NROLFW is heavy lifting. I would go with NROLFW. you'll have more muscle gains in a short time and the after burn effect is great at burning calories. I would just watch your intake if you're worried about bulking up too much.

I can't answer your question, but I can tell you that of all of the places I've been to around the world, Bali has been myfavorite! Go to Ubud. Also, hike up the volcano to watch the sun rise at the top (also doubles as a workout). Sigh....

I'm in the middle of NROLFW and I think it will really help you see the results you're looking for. It's entirely possible you'll only lose a few pounds or none at all. But I managed to lose 4" off my midsection in the first Phase, so it's great for burning fat and getting some nice muscle tone. And it's flexible because you do it on your own, so if you don't make a class you don't have to worry about missing the workout. It's 3 days a week, so it leaves room for cardio on the other days to burn more calories.

You'll see more results with NROLFW. But if you haven't been lifting at all, you could try pump for a few weeks - it'd at least prep you for some of the stuff in NR. Especially while you're reading the book/trying to figure out the program :)

Pump is lighter weights, LOTS of reps. It's good, it's fun, and you will see some results. But if you want more drastic results start NROLFW, 3x a week.

I currently do BodyPump 4 days a week and LOVE the class. I am loving the transformation and my new found muscles and would highly recommend the class to anyone. Pump is not necessarily lighter weights ... it's a gradual progression. With 800 + reps in a class it's one hell of a work out!
Great social aspect as well ... I've made a tonne of friends and it has turned into a great network of support !

Since you want to get result fast I would recommend NROL4W. I lost 6 inches in 6 weeks while body pump never did anything for me

Thanks so much! this time I am going to stick to NROLFW, I have lifted on and off for the past few years without comitting to a serious routine. I think this is what I need to really see some results!

I did body pump for a while and then quit out of irritation (I can't dance to a beat, how on earth can I bench press something heavy to a beat???). I'm in Stage 2 of NROLFW and I've lost inches and can pick up some really really heavy ****....it's awesome. Throw in a little cardio (HIIT) and you'll be great.

LOVED NROLFW! I also did a fat loss program from the original book and saw great results :-)

Body Pump = Cardio with weights (good for increasing endurance, not so good for increasing strength)
NROL = strength training (great for increasing strength and if in a surplus building muscle, and will increase endurance a little)3

So, the question is what is your goal? And don't do both as the body pump would not allow sufficient recovery from the NROL workouts.

Pretty much this. I teach pump once a week but was taking it another 2 times a week. I paired down to only the day that I teach and started nrol4w back in October. Best decision ever. I love pump and still use it for cardio and endurance lifting, but my primary workout is in the weight room, I no longer see it as a lifting class (even though my weights are still higher than most of my participants).
I have seen beautiful results from participants who added pump to their schedule, however. If you decide to go the bodypump route, don't take it easy on yourself. Push your ability and add weight (but don't sacrifice form for heft).

My goal is to lose fat and gain muscle, sculpt if you will. I want to lose about 10-15lbs right now but also have nice shapely muscles especially on my shoulders and arms for my wedding.

I've done both and NROLFW is way better and you will get the results you are looking for with it. Body Pump is more cardio than anything else-light weight, a lot of reps. NROLFW is heavy weights , less reps, nice shape to your body.

NROL4W is without a doubt superior to body pump; however I prefer stronglifts.com to NROL4W.

    blessings.
