Plateau

Hello everyone!
I wanted to know if anyone wanted to form a workout/nutrition support circle for people who are really trying to lose those last few pounds. Well, everyone is welcome But it would be nice to get some tips from others who have also "plateau'd".
A little about me,
I've lost 70 pounds so far (prior to using this website) and I'm looking to lose another 15 and to tone up!
I don't have any work out buddies in real life, or an active support group, so here's hoping .
I am hooked on turbo jam, love to cycle and a health food junkie!
Feel free to add me!
Gabrielle

Hi Gabrielle,
First Congrats on those 70 lbs ..that is just terrific..!
As far as plateau.. for my part, I have hit one at around 90 kgs ..I came down really fast from 97 in about 2 weeks... and then...nothing..
It is so disappointing..but I have read a lot of posts and I have made my own theory...
I believe that the eating back calories is to blame partly... I suspected that once I started exercising, I read the warnings about starvation and started to increase my total calorie intake while maintaining the net calorie goal. That by itself should not have derailed my efforts, but I thiink the fact that I had to eat more somehow softened my discipline and probably started eating more or failed to record accurately my calorie intake...semi uncosciously...!
So for now, I am back on respecting my total caloric goal regardless of how much exercise I put in...! and it looks like the pounds are again shedding away...
Now, I don' t suggest that this would be the same for you as you already have lost so much....! In my case, at 89kg for my frame.. I am right in the middle of the overweight range...! and my Body fat % is at 35 ..! So I don't think there is a danger of starvation... Yet I do realize that our bodies have a tendency to resist change (Survival reflexes) so I do expect to hit some more plateaus as I get down in the weight...!
Have you start tracking your other measurements such as waist, hips, arms..etc?... this may be where changes are more noticeable then just weight..?0 -
Congrats on your weight loss! If you don't lift weight start! It really works. Lift heavy. If you like turbo jam try her other worrkout Chalean Extreme.0

Ohhhh I know the feeling. Lost about 60 altogether. Hit a few plateaus, was in maintenance for awhile. Then decided I wanted to try to lose another 5-7lbs. So I came on here, beacuse I'd never actually done the counting calorie thing and thought it might be helpful.
The two things I've found to help get through the plateaus - change up my exercise routine, try something new; also taking a week completely off from exercise and eat a little more, sometimes will kickstart my weight loss again.0 -
Hi Isabey, Wow, you're really on your way to becoming successful!
35% body fat - I'm not entirely sure on how you did that calculation. Is 35% a good score?
I think you're right though. I personally don't like to weigh myself at all, so I think I will start taking measurements instead, just to keep track.
As far as the calories go - it really is so easy to overdo it, or to forget to enter certain things into the calorie tracker for example. I tend to eat fewer calories than is recommended by the website, however the weight doesn't seem to be coming off very much.
I wonder if eating more might help to rev up my metabolism and finalize this weight loss!

Thanks for the tip! I do minimal weight lifting so I do think it would be a great idea to build more muscle mass. Have you tried Chalean extreme? I'll look it up asap!

That's funny, someone told me the same thing about taking a break for a week, just a little while ago. So I did, right in time for exams, too! I hope it works as well as you say. How are you finding this website so far? Is the calorie counting helping you lose the last stubborn few pounds?

Hi _Gabrielle,
The body fat percentage is taken off directly from my scale, it has sensing plates where you position your feet and somehow measures your water % as well as body fat %... I am not sure how acurate it is ..but the numbers seem to parallel the weight changes ... I dont give ot much credit... but I am a numbers freak and love to track things...! I am not sure if you can see my diary, but would'nt mind receiving comments or suggestions.. I also would enjoy seeing others as well for inspiration as I am getting a little tired of my routine... (I just now tried adding bacon to my diet...!)
I hope you get off your plateau real soon as I know how frustrating it is to hang in "status quo...!" Cheers..! (sippin some really good wine...!)0 -

I think I'm still trying to figure it all out. But I'm committed to trying it. I lost over a pound a week in the first two weeks, even though my goals are set at 0.5 lbs so that was interesting. However, I'm also just coming back from two weeks of no exercise due to an injury, so that could have and effect as well.
Good luck with your exams!0
