I love running coincidences!

A bit of background... a good friend and I decided to set a long term running goal that is beyond ridiculous...and therefore kind of awesome. We are running the distance from our home town of Ottawa, Canada to Marathon, Greece, a total distance of 7779.84km (4862.4 miles). We started in December of last year and things have been going wonderfully!

Today marked the 100th run for me in this endeavour and after 7.2km I am now 584.2km in...but that's not the reason I posted...anyone ever had a coincidental song come on while on a run that perfectly fit the moment? Today the last song to come on my ipod was Queen's "We are the Champions" (lame, I know, but it's on my marathon list) and it ended just as I was slowing down for my cool down. It was the probably the best end to a significant run yet!

Just thought it was too much of a strange coincidence not to share ;)

I always giggle when "Sexy and I Know it" comes on at the gym.

the song was hot dog by lmfao. so frigging hilarious and just what i needed to hear to help me through the next half of my cardio

you totally should! it's amazingly fun and SO motivating! we started in December and I have been running at least 3 times a week because of it (though I tend to run 5x a week more often!) We also assigned a money value to each km that we run. For the first 500km it was $0.25 per km. For the second 500 it's $0.30 per km going up in 5 cent increments each km. By the time we are done we will have just under $5000 each and we are going to use the money to go take a trip to Greece to run the Athens marathon (which takes you from Marathon to Athens) we figure we'll be there for it by 2017!

We're also doing another challenge but using swimming the distance of the English Channel. We took the distance at the channel's widest point, broke it down into meters and then figured out how many laps of a pool it would be. For every 50m lap we do we pay ourselves $0.10. When we are done that challenge we'll have over $700 to spend on a trip to London and then will take the ferry over to Paris :)

I love the reward aspect of paying myself to do the running, but more importantly it's a GREAT way to save up for a big trip!
