I understand that summer is getting closer (or may already be in session for some of you lucky folks!), but I'm not looking forward to the heat. Whenever I hit the gym, I feel as if I'm going to fall over - not from overly-exerting myself but from being so darn hot. I don't sweat too much or run out of breath, but my face and arms turn bright red and the heat really takes away from the enjoyment of working out. For whatever reason, our campus gym doesn't have fans, so that's not an option.
Is there anything to do about the heat? Or is it something I just need to learn to deal with?

How about working out in the morning before the sun comes up if you can?0

Can you bring your own fan? My mom gets overheated when she exercises due to some health problems, so she just takes her own fan to her workout class now.
You could also use a cool pack on your neck. They make these gel things that you can cool in the freezer and then wear on your neck. They're meant for when you're working in the sun, but I don't see why it wouldn't help at the gym. I also read a study a couple of weeks ago that if you cool your hands, you can work out longer and harder. If you start noticing yourself getting overheated, try holding your hands under cool water for a few minutes, and then see if that helps cool you off enough to keep working out.0 -
Ugh, I feel you. I HATE the heat, and I'm a resident of Orlando, FL, where it's 80 even in the winter. When I try to work out in the heat I feel like I can't get a good breath and I feel like I'm suffocating. I hate it. It makes working out totally miserable when I'm trying to make it an enjoyable thing
And it's only going to get hotter every day...

I feel the same way, I HATE the heat. I think in my case it is because I don't sweat. My body just wells up with the heat. Like you, I turn red everywhere!
I try to use a wet washrag to make my skin damp and that does cool me down some, wetter the better!0 -
LOL I was just about to post a similar topic only difference is instead of the gym my main workout is at home and I sometimes go to the park for exercise!
My bf sweats throughout the workout and when I'm done my face is red (not from the intensity of the workout) and since I'm not exactly fair that says something!
The humidity here is crazy and the air aargh well the weather is definitely going to be a challenge when exercising! In summer here it gets hot as early as 5 am and the sun feels like its up untill after 8 pm. Even when its down its hot sigh.0
