There is natural sugar in fruits and vegetables and such. Ignore that for the most part.0

^^Agree. I've been eating tons of fruits and veggies and have lost 30 lbs. in two months. They're great for fiber, etc.0

Dont' worry about the sugar level. Best bet is to customize your MFP goals to make protein 30% and let the other numbers fall where they may.
When you get your protein, you'll be all good elsewhere.

Are you really only eating 500 a day? Or is that after what you burned?
My advice which I am sure people will disagree with is not to worry about it. The reason I say this is because there are times when I am not hungry ad I am under calories but then the next week I am super hungry and cannot get enough so I figure it balances out. You said you feel good. When you do not feel good, you'll have to eat more.
If the sugar is from fruits and veggies it is okay (unless you are diabetic). Going over on protein is a good thing, but watch the cholesterol.
One way to increase may be a protein shake or bar. Also a salad with nuts and hard boiled egg whites. Yogurt. Brown rice with salsa and beans.0 -
That's 500 before exercise, far as I can tell. I do go over on sugar at times, but natural sugars are Better and if you're not diabetic are better for your body than refined sugars. Add in apples, maybe bananas, and meaet some meat, but not much. For non meat eaters, there are other protein sources too. I know you're trying. It's hard and it's going to take untraining your mind from think ing food is bad. I do still fight this too every time I don't see the scale going down. I lost 50 lbs when stressed and not eating. I felt great, but my hair started thinning and wouldn't grow well and I developed sensitivities to so many things. I regained weight when I started eating like a human again. So in restarting. It's an eating disorder that had a lot of struggle and psychological pain. Try the fruits and meats and try to ignore non refined sugar for now.
Remember, exercise is worse for you if your body has no fuel. You'll get it. I have faith. I'm struggling with the feelings lately too.0 -
Don't stress about it, changing eating habits isn't easy, it can take a while to get the hang of what works best for you.
I suggest that you plan out breakfast, lunch and dinner and then add in snacks to get your calories up to your calorie allowance.
Here's an example of what I would eat on a healthy eating day, see if this helps:
Breakfast: oatmeal with skim milk, peanut butter and half an apple
Snack: boiled egg (and some almonds if I need more cals)
Lunch: stir fried meat (pork or chicken) and veggies and brown rice. Natural yoghurt with blueberries if I have the cals
Snack: hommus with veggies
Dinner: panfried salmon with green veggies and baked sweet potato.
At a rough guess, this would be somewhere around 1600 cals, but if you calorie goal is lower you can just play with quantities or have some kind of white fish or prawns instead of salmon which would reduce your calories.
If eating this kind of food took me over any of my macros I wouldn't get too fussed about it - the sugar is coming from fruit and veggies and dairy and comes packaged with lots of fibre and vitamins and minerals. Unless you have a medically diagnosed requirement to avoid carbs then a bit of oatmeal, brown rice and sweet potato aren't going to hurt you.
Don't worry about the "right" time of day to eat - find what suits your lifestyle and your body and stick to that.0 -
You guys are so smart, this helped me too.
I know fresh fruits and veggie are good for us.0 -
You guys are great!! Thnak You so very Much I am trying to plan my day right now0

You are doing great. You will get the hang of hit.
We are all learning from each other as we go along.
Like someone said, plan out your meals.
I usually do the next days menus the night before as I am fixing my lunch and wrapping up the current day. It let' s me know what I have left, then I can see what I can for snacks. Works well for me most of the time.
I am a convenience person, and try to keep it simple.0 -
Protein Shakes.. You can buy powder or already mixed drinks (more costly). I use Myoplex Original and get 42gms of protein in one serving with 300 calories. I do this EVERY TIME I work out. I need the extra calories to make out for my calories for the day!
And the other poster was right. Set your calories at 30% protein, 40% carbs and 30% fat. Stick to the protein number, the rest will be ok..0
