Weekly calorie spreadsheet

I like to keep track of my calories on a weekly basis rather than a daily basis. That way I get to save calories from earlier in the week, and indulge a bit later in the week (or vice versa).
So I've been keeping a spreadsheet that displays my weekly calorie slop as I fill in each day's numbers. I wish MFP would do this for me, but this is the next best thing.
Here's a Google Docs version of the spreadsheet. It's about as brain-dead a spreadsheet as there could be, but it works for me.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtLvWeJyKrzLdDhPVW9VTkc3cTA3RGp0b191ci1sUFE
If you want to keep a weekly instead of a daily budget, feel free to make or save your own copy (the shared version above is not editable).

I look at your spreadsheet. I take it you input your daily totals in to the sheet and limit what you weekly total should be.0

I actually just started doing something similar and it seems to be helping me. If I don't consume all of my "bonus" or exercise calories on any given day (although I do try) I am able to see that they are available to me for say a Friday night indulgence0

Yes. At the end of each day, put your MFP "total" (either a positive or a negative number). The last column of the spreadsheet simply shows how much you are currently over your budget (a negative number) or under your budget (a positive number) for the week.
At the end of the week, that number should be close to zero.0 -

Actually, you can do this on the phone app. It isn't as neat and tidy as your spreadsheet but if you go to your home page and then select the weekly table it will tell you have far under you are for the week, and it will show you your daily totals in bar graph form.
ETA: you can also see your nutrient breakdown over the week and your % of Carbs vs. fat vs. protein.0 -
Thanks so much for posting this!0

That feature is not available on the BlackBerry version, which I use.
Actually I checked out the iPhone version (my wife's phone), and don't care for it because it does not give a single number of calories that I'm over/under for the week.0 -

Thanks. I had done something similar a while back, but I like the formatting of yours better.0

You get a single number on the Android version. I find it very useful.
Can you (or someone) post a screen capture of the way this looks on the Android? TIA0 -
I was just thnking of doing the same thing - thanks for the format0

I have suggested this to MFP. The feature is available on the iPhone and iPad. I use my iPad and track for a weekly average that is my net goal. It tells you how many calories you are over or under for the week and has a bar for your weekly average.
Dunno why they don't put it on the website?? It's really useful!0 -

That's cool. I need a better smart phone.
Does the app's weekly numbers take into account your earned exercise calories? I'm thinking that my wife's iPhone app does not, which has always been another irritation.
In the spreadsheet, I'm just entering the positive or negative number from the MFP food diary for the day, and that already accounts for the exercise calories I've burned.0 -
Yes it does take into account those. The graph shows NET calories left.0

bump so i can review this later0
