Hi I think they say a gram of protein for every pound of lean muscle mass. Your gym might be able to tell you what your muscle mass is. I wouldn't say 130 is too much though. My lean body mass is low at 90lb but I'm trying to get 120+ as I'm strength training. Adding in protein shakes to help get there.0

I'd say its too little especially if you're trying to maintain or build muscle.0
-
Shoot for 1g per lean muscle you have for starters.0

Ok need more input still confused I'm a big man so 90lbs of lean muscle doesn't even come close to what I would weight!0

How do you calculate lean muscle?0 -
Unless you have kidney problems, you likely won't get too much protein. I had 131g today and I'm a vegetarian female.0

If you want to find out your lean body mass you can get a rough estimate by using the body fat calculators on this website:
http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/
You will find that the results differ using the three calculators. You can get a better estimate by using callipers or having your body fat tested at your local gym.0 -

Edit: I did the other one...and it seems much more accurate lol0 -
What are your goals? For the average active male 130 is enough.0

I really hope it's not too much, because I just finished off my day with173grams of protein...And I'm female with 130 lbs of lean body mass... Enjoy!!0

If my lean muscle mass is 100 and I eat 100 g of protein will this help build more lean muscle.
I don't want to bulk up, but I want to gain lean muscle.
I'm just getting started with strength training.0 -

You will NOT bulk up.0 -
I'm a chick and I aim for 150+ gm, so my vote is NO. :flowerforyou:0

Good job Morebean. I'm at 138g (also a vegetarian) so far today, and I still have 200 calories to eat/drink, so I'm thinking a whey powder in soymilk shake... That will put me at 170, which is my daily goal.0 -

I like Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate. 1 scoop is 120 cals, 24 gm of protein. I just mix it in water with a spoon...it mixes smooth and tastes great.0 -

Same here. I'm a woman and I aim for 145-150gm0 -
I use Promasil whey protein powder : 90cal & 20mg protein per scoop. I have 2 scoops with water after my workouts. Vanilla tastes good to me!0
-
So I'm thinking from what I read and have seen from the wed sites I need to be around 200 - 225g of protein a day!0
