Stretching/Sore Muscles?

I have just started my journey last week and joined a gym. I started going every other day, but then I felt like I could start going everyday. Last night I took a long walk in my neighborhood and today my leg, where my knee extends on the backside is so incredibly sore.

I was going to go to the gym this morning but didn't want to overdo it and hinder my progress in the long run.

I have to admit I do NOT stretch before I start my exercise.

What stretching do you do before a work out to make sure you are limber and is there anything in particular I can do to sooth sore or strained muscles?

I don't stretch prior to working out. I just have a nice gentle warm up (brisk walk, unweighted bar lift, a slow yoga series). Stretching after however, is crucial. When I'm sore/achy I love epsom salt baths and foam rollers. You can get a foam roller at the Wal-Marts for like, $10. YouTube how to use it.

I do a little dynamic stretching before. I do PNF after, plus foam roller.

Stretching is not always essential effort working out but I think it's really important that you stretch when your finished. If you can stretch before a workout great but if not make sure you gently wanted up so that you prepare te body for your workout.

As for your current soreness! Try googling hamstring stretches. Actualy google leg stretches and it will show you different stretched for your legs. Hope that's helps a bit
