Work =/= exercise. That is my opinion, I would not count it because it's your everyday job. Set your daily activity level accordingly to fit your job description.
Also, most HRM's are not meant to be worn all day, the calorie count will not be accurate.0 -
No.
You HRM uses an algorithm that estimates your caloric burn. That algorithm was developed following clinical study of individuals under exercise stress where HR and caloric burn were actually measured (I'm simplifying but this is basically the case).
Those algorithms do not hold true at lower heart rates (non exercise) and will return a falsely high burn reading.0 -
thanks guys. my next question: how do i know what my activity level is? i'm on my feet and moving anywhere from 3-8 hours.. 5 days a week.0

I usually set it at a conservative level, I have mine on light activity, but I'm a mom and I'm always cleaning and playing with my son. I keep it there when I'm working as a nurse too. I guess go with how your body feels- set it, and if you feel like it's not enough to eat or you could do with less, than adjust accordingly.0

Most likely fairly active at least.0

There are general descriptions in the area where you choose that. I think there's one described as standing/walking most of the time for your job.0

I'm a cook...but I don't count work as exercize. Its just part of my normal day to day. I fount exercise as something above or beyond that.0
