Medieval Martial Arts!

Last Saturday, I had an introduction class in western martial arts, which means fighting with longswords, rapiers, daggers and staves. I loved it and I'm going to keep going.
I realize this is probably getting trendy (I don't know.. I don't watch TV much anymore), but it's also the very first physical activity (other than the obvious) that I've been able to interest my husband in.
You start with properly weighted polypropylene longswords, which are four foot long two-handers, before you move up to the real thing. When you get to the real thing, you need proper protective pads and armour.
What I really like is that it's very different from anything I've seen out there so far, and they're very accommodating and inclusive of beginners.
Also..... SWORDS!
