I am NOT a breakfast person (which sucks cuz it is typically the "best" time to eat a big meal when trying to loose weight) so I usually drink one in the morning as a substitution for a meal, and then I hit the gym!
I have done the "slimfast diet" before and while it does "work" the weight comes right back because it becomes impossible to live off of 2 shakes/bars a day and only 1 real meal, its better to just focus on eating healthy balanced meals.0 -
I'm also not a breakfast person, so I used Slimfast as a breakfast replacement for a few months, before my wedding. It was an easy way to get a jumpstart on the day with low calories, and protein to tie you over.
However, I usually burped it up for awhile after, which is not pleasant. And certain flavors made my urine smell EXACTLY like the Slimfast. Not a cool thing to mentally link the smell of your pee to something you're drinking every morning. (And that's not just me- if you google it, there are hundreds of people asking about their urine smelling like Slimfast.)
I stopped doing the Slimfast and all the weight came right back. It's not a long-term plan, it seems to just get a few pesky pounds off while you're actively drinking it. And, if you read the ingredients there's a lot of really weird stuff in it.
At the end of the day I had to ask myself if I really wanted to drink some artificial drink that was made in a lab- or try and eat real food in its place. I lost about 10 pounds on Slimfast in about 2 months. I've only been doing MFP and eating real foods for 2 weeks and have already lost 6.5 pounds. I think the results speak for themselves!0 -
Slimfast 'works' but not for long. Never used it - but I know why it 'works' and I'm tellin' ya - you're best off doing things with wholesome, real food.
The reason Slimfast claims to work is because you're reducing your caloric intake and so are losing weight. I mean come on...2 shakes and a solid meal a day? That's a good calorie deficit right there. But when you come off it, you essentially have to be slightly higher than what you've been at while on the Slimfast to maintain, if you go back to eating too high than you had been when on the shakes you'll gain.
So my suggestion would just be to stick with wholesome food, get a good amount of protein in, reduce your caloric intake with diet and exercise and lose the weight that way. Weight loss isn't a temporary thing, the journey stays with you for LIFE0
