So I've been drinking a lot of tea recently and always put about a tablespoon of honey in each cup. Logging it on MFP, it says its like 17 sugar. Well, I'm only allotted 24 sugar in a day. I know people say not to worry about fruit sugar, but is honey sugar a bad sugar or is it like fruit sugar since its natural? I'll cut it out if I have to but I really do enjoy it with my tea. Just wanna make sure its not bad sugar.

Thank you!

Sugar is sugar. It's ALL bad to some extent. The only reason sugar in fruit is ok/better, is because of all the other nutrients in whole fruit (fiber, vitamins, etc.). That's why fruit JUICE is still "bad" sugar.

Honey is one of the very few forms of truly natural sugar, and certain types of honey are claimed to have some medicinal properties. Because of this, I personally, am more comfortable eating honey than some other type of sugar.

That said, depending on how much tea you're drinking, a tablespoon per cup is quite a bit, and can add up fast. Maybe try gradually cutting back on the amount you use per cup and/or drinking a different type of tea which tastes good without being sweetened.
