Not a Big Loss, but Still a Loss Right?

I've tried dieting multiple times over the last six years but my weight always either stayed the same or increased. But, whenever I found out I was insulin resistant and read up and learned about it over the course of a few weeks, I realized that the only way I could lose weight was to cut out processed foods, unnatural sugars, and as many carbs as possible every day. Over the course of the last two and a half weeks I've been studying and learning and incorporating what I have learned into my diet every day. I cut out pasta and milk altogether, as they are incredibly high in carbs which become sugar in my body. I am taking a supplement suggested by my Doctor in stead and it has done wonders. Now I just have to work on taking bread out of my diet. I know I can have a little bit of whole grain, but I'm hoping to quit bread all together. The cravings and withdrawls were difficult but I made it... I began taking suggested supplements like cinnamon, flax oil, and biotin as well.

Now, two weeks later: my tiredness is gone, my headaches and irritability is gone, my cravings are gone, and I feel stronger. I lost 6 pounds in 2 and a half weeks! Now I'm down to my starting weight when I joined this site 4 months ago... 4 months of dieting and gaining weight, then just following what my doctor and a few friends suggested and I lose 6 pounds in two weeks and gain stamina and energy! I love it!!!

Congratulations! Insulin's effects on the body are crazy! Glad you found what the issue was, and good luck to you on your journey! Bread and starches would be so hard for me to cut out!

Congrats :). It's great that you have taken the initiative to do research on your condition and take the steps to make yourself better. 6 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks is awesome! The cravings I'm sure will subside quickly with all the knowledge and support you have. Best of luck and great job so far.

Sugar is my downfall, I try to watch how much I get. That's really hard for me though because everything seems to have sugar in it, I love fruit and totally love sweets (of any kind). Even though I"m not always successful, I still try to watch how much I get.

Congrats... I too have recently (within the last 2 1/2 weeks) cut out processed foods and am trying a "clean eating" type of plan. I have seen the same amazing results you mentioned above! I have lost 7 pounds already and feel GREAT! The best part is that a lot of my cravings for sugar are gone. I still have cravings that are emotionally based but it's easier to get around them when the sweets and junk just doesn't taste as good as it used too.
My husband is a type 1 diabetic and on and insulin pump. I am trying to slowly win him over with the diet changes as well. He doesn't have any weight to loss but I think it would do wonders for his diabetes.
