Strength training and weight loss?

Does anyone else out there not loose unless they are doing strength training of some sort? I have noticed the past couple of times I've been really successful in loosing I have been consistently adding some sort of strength training to my workout routine, usually Pure Barre, Pilates or Body Pump. Any else notice the same thing?
