Okay, here I go again. I checked out ALL the brands on the shelf. I mean ALL. Anyway, I decided on Smucker's Natural Creamy Peanut Butter. Only ingredients, peanuts & salt. Even though I bought it, I feel guilty because of the calories. Is it better to use the "regular" peanut butter instead of the "natural" because of the calories? I know I'm being obsessive but .... AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!

Go with natural...there are lots of artificial ingreadients in the regular stuff...also the added sugar. There is no need to add sugar and junk to peanut butter. Also, make it yourself...it's wonderful. I love to make cashew and almond butters.

So, I shouldn't get so caught up in the calories aspect versus the natual? Honestly, the numbers for my usual breakfast this morning scares me...

Absolutely go with the Natural. And 365 calories is necessary for breakfast - remember food is fuel and you need the energy for a productive day. No need for guilt - you are doing a good thing!!

What do you watch other than cals? Do you watch your sodium or sugar intake? You'd be suprised how much sugar is added to regular PB. I make my own...peanuts and salt sometimes. It's really good and I know exactly what's in it.
  • The PB2 stuff is pretty natural too..and is low in calories..I LOVE it! Some things are better natural...
It's hard being a female and smaller as the higher calories are tough. My boyfriend can eat a TON more than me and doesn't understand why I don't eat as much as him. It's because my smaller body doesn't need as many. So do what's best for you..while it does help to ask others..if they have a different body makeup they will eat differently.
I hope that helps! And be sure to look at the overall big pictures..not just calories but fat, sodium, carbs, protein..etc.

I love the Skippy Natural. IMO it's much better to have those calories, which are healthy for you, than to have all those partially hydrogenated oils.

If you are woried about the calories you can switch to Almond butter. Has some healthier benefits and less calories.
  • The best thing I've ever eaten in my life is PB & Company's dark chocolate dreams. It's dark chocolate mixed with peanut butter, all natural, and slightly lower in calories. I too try to balance natural, calories, and price which sometimes makes me spend hours in the grocery store :ohwell: If you're wanting to save a few more calories, try "Naturally More" peanut butter. It's got more ingredients but is all natural and I love the taste. But, like everybody else said, most def go for natural and remember you're looking for QUALITY calories, not just low calorie. Keep up the good work!

But you can make your own at only a fraction of the cost.

I see you found the ticker site! I'm glad I quit for obvious health reasons but, honestly, right now, with MY LIFE, I could use a good pack or two!

Thanks y'all for your advice on the PB. I've never had it put to me like that before. Good quality calories versus "bad" quality calories. I never eat more than the 2 tbsp. each morning so, all in all, I guess that's not so bad.

    Again, thanks!:drinker:
