Smart restaurant options

I almost never go out to eat, but for Mother's Day, my husband wants to take his mom out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant. I have cut all white carbs out of my diet and would really like to stick to that if I can. Are there any "good" options at a Mexican restaurant? Also, I checked online for a menu, and they don't have one I can look at before going

Any suggestions would be awesome!

Fajitas with corn tortillas. Keep the sour cream, guac and cheese to a minimum. Or, ask them to give them to you without the side items and get grilled onions and peppers with them. Don't eat the tortillas. Basically, meat and veggies.

I love huevos rancheros, that could be a good option if you just don't use the tacos on the side. Not sure how you feeel about beans but you can't go wrong with eggs and salsa in my opinion.

Watch for the key words for things. Go for baked rather than fried. Avoid "crispy." Ask for sauces on the side. Also, don't hesitate to ask the waiter/waitress for the best options. They are usually more than happy to work with you to make your meal perfect for you!

Chicken enchilda verde with corn tortillas - usually fajita/grilled chicken, a tomatillo sauce, and a sprinkle of white cheese
Spinach/veggie enchiladas - just watch out for cream based sauces if you're watching your fat intake (usually not "bad carb" heavy)
Fajitas - although some places I've found to be a tad oily
Guacamole - full of heart healthy fats
Fish - most of the mexican restaurants around here have a grilled/broiled fish option
    Chicken tortilla soup

Tortilla chips aren't a must have for me - it really depends on the restaurant as some places we go to have great food but average chips/salsa (which is weird for TX)

I went with the chicken fajitas. The menu said the chicken and vegetables were grilled. I didn't eat the tortillas with them, and I had about a tablespoon of guacamole. I tried to overestimate all of the portion sizes when entering it in my food diary. I was able to stay just under my calorie goal
