But with the recomendation of a friend at work, I want to try this out...

Hello all...

I'm Currently over 300 lbs and not even close to being on the BMI index (unfortunately)
Just tried KFC grilled (cuz it sounds healthy)

So wish me luck!

    rethink the kfc, is not healthy as it seems to be it has msg in that chicken

    Use this place for what it will do....

    You will make friends... get advice... get motivation....
    learn things you never knew.... help and motivate others....
    Take pictures along the way ... you will be shocked!!!

    Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it! :wink:
    I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
    Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works. :smile:
    Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP! :love:
    Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:

    I tried it recently... YUCK... it was the most dried up piece of crap that I ever wasted too many calories on. :noway: If I ever had the notion to try it again.....someone kick me....... I'd rather waste my cal's on something good like ice cream or ........ "anything else":grumble:

    Good luck on droppin the pounds :bigsmile: I also started over 300 lbs. but it can be done if you think of it as a life style change and not just another diet :flowerforyou:

    I say if you're counting your calories, eat what you want! It makes it easier if you dont deprive yourself of the things you really like. But maybe instead of the KFC you could grill a chicken yourself! It's much better. Although I found for me the KFC grilled chicken skin is so greasy and fatty that I dont want to eat the skin, so i guess thats good. ( SOMETIMES, i dream i got to eat a whole fried chicken skin!) I know Im sick!


    But I've been working out for a month and counting calories for 3 weeks and I've lost a total of 8 pounds, so i cant be doing that bad. Good luck with yours!

    I think that's why half of us are here in the first place. I get what you're saying, but for someone who is just starting out, tough love is what they need not this soft cuddly "enjoy what you want" stuff. Getting healthy and losing weight, especially to someone who is over 300 lbs is not going to be easy and as such should be explained to them in that way. Dont get me wrong, I know what you were saying and I agree with you but I think the enjoying of food you cant live without should be done well after the weight and health are under control.

    Black: If you are serious about this then it's gonna TOTALLY SUCK for the first little while but will pay off in the end. CUT OUT ALL FAST FOOD. Focus on natural food and home cooked (healthy) meals from scratch. EXCERCISE THE HELL OUT OF YOURSELF. Lots of Cardio my friend. Oh yes... it's going to suck... but it will get sooooo much better.

    Hey there, welcome to the site. :)

    I'm a firm believer you can still have your kfc (or anything else) once in a while, so no worries. It's not about depriving yourself, it's about moderation and an overall good life.

    I'd have to respectfully disagree on this one. I've lost weight many times throughout my life, and it's always been about depriving myself right from the beginning, and it never lasts. I agree if we're over 300 pounds we need a complete overhaul, but taking it on all at once, quitting everything we ever knew cold-turkey, and adding in a bunch of stuff that's so foreign to us like 100% clean eating in addition to lots of daily exercise IS setting yourself up for disaster.

    If you start out slowly, make a few changes at a time, give your body and MIND a chance to adapt to a few new things at a time, then you can grow stronger, and eventually end up where you want to be. If you start out with the mindset that you're going to be perfect, it will be devastating when you overeat or eat the wrong things. I've seen tons of people on here beating themselves up because they gave in and had a piece of pizza, then they're here talking about how disappointed they are in themselves and how guilty they feel- that's just not healthy.

    I agree, giving up all fast food and junk food and exercising until you drop may be the ideal way to get the weight off, but it's not realistic for everyone. :)
