How do you measure calories?

I use an HRM to track my workouts and calorie burn. I switch the HRM on the first time I get on a machine at the gym, and my Heart Rate then is between 60-70. After my routine, I typically wait for my Heart Rate to come down to about 100bpm before switching off the HRM. That calorie reading is what I use for MFP.
My question is, is that the right way to measure calories? Or should I wait for my Heart Rate to come to normal, say 65 or so? Am I under-measuring calories burned during a workout? Or am I just nit-picking?
Any thoughts or experiences please?

You're nit-picking. You're losing weight, right? Keep doing what you're doing.
The number of calories is going to be minimal. If you're pushing that hard for a few calories, then go ahead, it'll only slow down your weight loss by a teeny tiny bit.
In the end, "what motivates you" is what's important.0
