I'm wondering if MFP has my daily sodium intake amount set too high - at 2,500....

I thought I read somewhere that your daily sodium intake should be equivalent to your daily calories intake....but then again, I could be wrong.......

Could anyone please advise....thank you!!!!

unless you have a problem and are being advised by a medical professional to curtail your sodium intake. don't worry about it.

season your food (salt seasons, spices add flavor) so that it tastes good. You might be able to lose some water weight by reducing your sodium intake, but when you get to maintenance, it will come back. so just eat the amount of sodium that you like and lose weight at the same time.

I believe that currently an upper limit of 2,300mg is advised. However, if you're at a higher risk for hypertension, diabetes, or heart disease (basically if you're older than 50, obese, African American, etc.), then you should stay under 1500mg. That being said, the body only needs around 500mg to function properly.
