When to start running after injury

Injured my hip flexor, the end of March. Been going to a physical therapist for a few weeks. The PT said that if everything went perfect I could start running in 6-8 weeks :noway: .
Seriously? After taking off 5 weeks...
I can't keep paying to go 2-3 times a weeks for 6-8 weeks. Each visit is $65 after what insurance pays.
Plus I'm sick of waiting for it to heal. So on Monday, I started doing the 30 Day Shred. The butt kicks and jump rope make me notice that my injury is still there. And I've been achy at night. But the workouts have been GREAT!!
I REALLY want to start running again..
I know you all aren't Doctors. But you are athletes and know when to push and when to take it easy. Would appreciate some opinions.
