I started my diet, or rather life style change, 2-3 months ago now and have lost 33lbs. Every night I find myself poking at myself in the mirror pointing out whats wrong. I feel like no matter what I do I can't be happy with my accomplishment so far. I find it hard sometimes to even see any changes I get so discouraged in myself even after people tell me how good I'm doing. Is there anyone else out there who feels like I do? How do you keep yourself sane?

What I do? I give myself a talking to.
I'm terrible for putting myself down, although have improved so much lately. I have to give myself a reality check and tell myself that I'm not as bad as what I sometimes think. I also remember how much more exercise I'm doing, how much more healthy I'm eating and then say to myself 'you're doing good, STOP putting yourself down'.
When you do, the only person you are hurting is yourself. Have a think and ask yourself, what's the point in that?
It's difficult, but if you start to practice being more positive it will stick. Look in the mirror and compliment yourself, it could just be 'my skin looks healthy today', then walk away from the mirror and don't let yourself become negative.
A few years ago I self harmed from hating myself. I was in a dark place, and hurt others aswel as myself. Learning to be positive and changing my thought processes worked better than any prescription drugs. The mind is wonderful once you train it to be positive.0 -
Hey congratulations on your 33lbs weight loss. That is great and you should be proud of yourself.
I know it's hard to see change in a mirror sometimes. I lost 17lbs before joining MFP and I don't see a change either but when I see old pictures of myself I am shocked at the way I looked. I'm only 5'1 so 17lbs is a lot on me. I see a huge difference on pictures.
Do you have any "before" pictures? If not, take some now and compare them to yourself in 3 months, take new ones in 3 months.
Also the reason you are not happy could be because you are not where you want to be yet? Do you still have a lot to lose? You are picturing yourself at your goal and you're not there so it's getting frustrating. Just try to keep in mind how far you have come so far and giving up will only take you back to where you started.I started my diet, or rather life style change, 2-3 months ago now and have lost 33lbs. Hi there, you have lost the same amount of weight as me. You look amazing, i looked at your pics and you can definitely see a big difference, so keep going.
I have felt the same recently, on the point of giving up yesterday and only this morning have i studied myself in the mirror and decided i am doing well and should be proud of myself for sticking to it.
You too should be proud of yourself, 33lbs in that amount of time is great...and slightly quicker than me too :ohwell: haha.
Please dont give up, and add me as a friend if you'd like to0 -
Well done on your loss! You're doing beautifully!
I know what size I want to be, and in a perfect world i'd be there already. But it takes time. I've won the head-game, my relationship with food has changed and now I've just got to wait for my body to catch up with my head. Yes, I look at my body and shake my head in despair sometimes, but I know that I'll get there.
Take your time - it's not a race. It's got to be sustainable and it's got to be realistic. We'll get there and we'll be right chuffed when we get there!0
