Hi everyone,
so I'm a French 22 year old girl, and I actually need to lose 80 pounds :embarassed: . I actually started my real diet a few days ago and while looking for a calorie tracking app on my phone I found MFP and I immediatly knew it was made for me  .

I was abroad to study last year and started doing loads of strenght based exercises, but i busted one of my knee  and had to stop doing sports, it's been one year since I had my last real workout and I've gained 40 pounds in just this year cause I'm really stressed out because of college (I'm currently writing my MA research project in English Linguistics) and family and all sorts of other problems ^^". But, when I weighed myself and saw that I'd hit the 100 kg line, I just had the declic that I needed to do something in order to feel better about myself. (weird thing being, at 90 kg i felt less fat than when I was 16 and only 60kg which is the weigh I should be at :o).

So I'm all motivated and really working towards my goal and making changes, although I find it hard to not go overboard and eat too few calories, but I know that too few calories will lead to me binge eating or something like that. Sports wise, one of my friend is a sports coach and is building me a personalised "get healthy" plan. So If anyone is interested, I can translate it and post it here when I'll get it.

Well, for those who read up til here, thanks a lot, I see a lot of very motivational stories here and I feel pretty confident since I read so many great success stories..

Glad you are here :) I feel the same way about MFP.

I hope you reach your goal and find some way to work out that doesn't bother your knee.

Thanks for your answer :). I hope so too, I felt devastated when I had to stop practicing martial arts, but even more devastated when I realised I was so out of shape.

Welcome to MFP and good luck on your studies. This is a great place to be. The friends you can garner here help with the support.

You may wish to investigate low impact workouts like water aerobics (it's not just for us elders *grin*)

Well, I just can't put too much stress on my knee but It's getting better everyday, although I'm not sure I can ever get back to my beloved martial arts, but I'll keep the elderly activities for when I'm elderly : oh wait, someone is reminding me that I knit a lot and play scrabble (which in France are considered as elderly activities ^^) : ok I surrender I actually already started gathering information : I'm moving to Paris next month for a summer internship as an interpret and I already found a swimming pool which is "work hour friendly".
Thanks for all your kind messages :).
