What's half of 2/3??? lol, maybe it's becuase it's late, or i'm just not very smart.....but I need to know for my breakfast tomorrow morning!!!

    They always say to go with your first instinct, lol! I thought it was 1/3 but wasn't positive because there's three parts to the 1, so half of three would be 1.5 so I was just a bit confused :blushing: Thanks for helping me :happy:

    no problemo, you are cutting the two parts in half, there are three thirds in a whole, so if you have two of them, then cutting it in half would be one of those parts.
    you aren't cutting three in half, you are dividing up the thirds. so 1/3 plus 1/3 = two thirds



    our schools do such a poor job of this because they force kids to just memorize rather than truly understand how fractions work. SIGH, I'll get off my soapbox now....
