NSV - The Weight Room

I finally worked up the gumption to enter the weight room at the gym today - and to actually lift weights there!

For years, I've languished in the cardio area, amongst a sea of others on the treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes. The weights always seemed so intimidating to me. But, after reading through multiple threads and success stories here on MFP, I realized I had maxed out with my weight lifting at home, and needed to take the next step. (Thanks to everyone for the inspiration!!)

I joined MFP about a month ago, when my baby was 5ish weeks old. She is 10 weeks old today, and I have only 3 pounds to go to get back to pre-pregnancy weight - but I have no intention of stopping there!

I was going to try to figure out how to post a picture, but my baby is crying, so you'll have to check out the profile pic - first, when my daughter was 2 weeks, and now today, she's 10 weeks. About 212 in the first, and 198 today.

LOL I don't even leave the weight room much anymore. Lifting is way more fun, at least to me.

    Congrats!!!

Coingratulations on overcoming your fears! When I read the title to your thread I realized what this was about because I too had exactly the same issue. for a year and a half I just stuck to the cardio machines at the gym and watched, enviously at the people in the weight area. I knew I wanted to start lifting to achieve the physique that I really wanted but just couldnt/wouldnt gather the courage to do it. I dont know what it was but a few weeks ago all this changed. Actually alot of it came from my MFP friends spurring me on. Anyway, I've started to gain now and am so proud of myself for overcoming my fears. When I think back about it it seems ridiculous that I was holding myself back. I now look forward to every gym session now. Feel free to add me.
