Legs Bums and Tums without doing Floorwork

Hi All,

I tried doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred and when it comes to the floorwork, I just can't do it due to pain in the centre of my lower back, it feels like there is a ball pressing into my spine and as I'm losing weight the pain is only getting worse.

I would like to tone my legs my bum and my tum, but I find it quite difficult to do the latter.

Are there any suggestions as to exercises that I could do at home that don't involve weights?

Thanks in advance!

  • buy a mat from Walmart. I use the blue one. Even tho I have carpet. And do you stretch before you work out?

Swimming. It's not dramatic results, but remains a brilliant all round work out.

I'd also consider some beginners yoga if I were you, to see if you can improve your flexibility and back.

Have you thought about seeing a physio or a doctor about the pain?

Instead of trying to find ways to work around the pain, I would be trying to understand the cause of the pain and fixing it!

Well I have used a mat, and I have used cushions, I don't really have the time or money to go swimming, and yes don't worry, I will be going to the doctors as soon as I can get the time off work!

You should try doing some Yoga. It helps you getting the flexebility in your spine you need. It might not be the pressure from the floor, its because the spine has to adapt to motion.

Do you have a tail? (Seriously.. an extra large coccyx couldn't be comfy to put pressure on.)

It's not quite that far down my back to be my coccyx, not quite sure what it is, but I spouse when I go to the docs thy will probably say I need to exercise it more, which I can't! I'll have to wait and see.

I'll have to give the planks a go - I have no upper body strength so I suppose it will help with that too! I'll look into what mountain climbers are too. Thanks!
