Hey guys! I love sugar-chocolate, sweets, bakery, fruits and dry fruits, it does not love me back at all. Does anyone want to to join my week challenge-3 not too sweet fruits per week only?

This is the worst thithing for me, I love candy sweets, cake anything sugar. I am trying to give it up and one week in and if I had hair I would be tearing it out. So yes I am up for the challenge.

I never eat candy but this week has been teacher appreciation week and there is candy everywhere. Have eaten more candy than I usually do in 6 months. Would love to join you in your challenge.

The best thing about avoiding sugar is, the longer you avoid it, the less you crave it. Good luck to everyone!

    Another weird tip is.

Get some unsweetened Baker chocolate squares.
nuke in the microwave for one minute until it can be smooshed around.

Mix in the tiniest bit of splenda ( NOT Aspartame) with the chocolate until the bitterness from the unsweetened chocolate goes away.

Splash of Half and Half and mix it up.

take just a bit of it to taste and PUT THE REST BACK IN THE FRIDGE!

that takes the edge off a bit ....this is ONLY if the SMACKING and the Protein does not help, or if you just havent eaten enough of a meal.

sorry but whoever named a sugar alternative with an S word should be Smacked as well.

Hi again everyone! Ufff had a great workout and avoided pancakes in my breakfast Feels good to feel not guilty! I am actually a bit afraid of sweeteners like Stevia and others, they are still sweet right, so how to lose the habit and craving? and while it's a substitution it may have something else not good for the body. Feel free to prove me opposite. I am very open for any information. But wait sugar is not just sweets it's porridges, die, dairy, man veggies like beatroot and carrots and alcohol is sugar as well. And in fact we need some from this....But I personally envy a lot to those blessed men and women who can have one small candy and stop. If i have a candy, I'll have 10 of them...if I have too feet fruits like banana i'll turn to chocolate too. So my challenge is to get rid of the craving and habit first and then in far far future let myself once in a while a small piece of chocolate or something else.

After stuffing down a 390g bar of Galaxy chocolate in the night, I am definitely taking action, especially, as I noticed as I ate it, I was not even enjoying it after a certain point and it was way too sweet for me. I have noticed this lately, I find sugar more sickening than I used to, especially when I eat more of it. I wont be cutting fruit totally, as I rely on that to keep me regular, and don't wish to go that extreme, but I am striving to minimise my sugar intake, and avoid refined sugar for a while to try and break free of this cycle. I do think sugar substitutes are as bad as the sugar itself in a way, especially splenda(sucralose) which is basically made out of sugar, but has a few molecules altered to take out the calories. No idea how I shall sweeten up my greek yoghurt now, possibly a small amount of unsweetened apple sauce, or some prune juice with the pb2 I usually add. Good luck everyone. I am starting from now.

Omg I am not alone in my struggle with sugar...

I totally agree with you Mashenka85 I am jealous of the people who can stop after having a couple of pieces of candy.

In numbers we can help each other :)

I'm so with you on this. I am doing 30 days of no sugar right now, hoping to reset my cravings and my addiction. I know I'm addicted because 1) once I start with a bag of pretzels or gummi sour things (my weaknesses) I just can't stop and 2) the thought of actually trying to stop made me slightly panicky and I immediately started trying to think of ways around it like baking with Splenda or using Stevia or whatever.

Instead I just decided to go for it. It's the one thing that I've never really tried in my quest to lose weight and stay fit. I've always allowed myself treats if they fit within my calories, but I'm realizing that I just might be one of those people who has to make more of an effort to stay away from sugar.

For my 30 days I'm not allowing any added sugar and no artificial sweeteners either. For two weeks I'm going without natural sugar (except what's in veggies) as well. After two weeks I'm adding in limited fruits and sugar from dairy (Greek yogurt, etc).

It has been 7 days for me and yesterday was the first day I felt amazing. Like, mind-blowingly great. The first 4--5 days were really tough. Last night I made a smoothie with coconut milk, protein powder, vanilla and cinnamon. No sugar at all. The taste of it was incredible. I can feel my taste buds resetting. Not to get all dramatic about it, but I'm excited to see if it gets even better from here. I'm really looking forward to my first handful of berries in a week. I know they will be incredible!

Oh and I lost 5lbs when I stepped on the scale yesterday! To anyone thinking of trying it, I say go for it. I'm using Whole30 (or the Whole9 site) as my inspiration but adapting it to include whole grains. I'm also looking at the 21 day sugar detox for ideas. I have not needed to join either of these websites and I haven't bought any book. I've simply limited myself to completely whole foods and nothing sweet of any kind.

wanderinligh I am so like you idea of giving up itself makes me panic sometimes But you gave me a nice idea! 2 weeks no natural sugar except veggies and then natural sugar only and 5 lbls just from it in a week! so great! And I also experimented with cinnamon and vanilla a lot while baking without adding any sugar...but well of course oatmeal or buckwheat i am using is natural sugar too. I think today was more or less okayish start for me I had half a green apple and corn homemade pancakes without sugar and only with little sault Tomorrow might be harder I work in office with italians and older russian women. There is always free coffee, cakes, cookies, dry fruits and lots of sweet stuff...worse everyone is eating it! Girls and guys but let's not feel guilty if anyone eats something! Every time I feel guilty I get upset with myself and go on for a few days with sugar...ehh!Hope you don't

I'm in. I usually never crave sweets and I'm usually in control. For some reason this week I keep indulging in sweets and going for seconds. Even though I'm under my calories, I still feel guilty. I stopped using splenda and sweet and low in my coffee for a week now. so that's a start.

I should be clear -- I don't think I lost 5lbs in a week; I'm just 5lbs down from last time I weighed myself. The following week will tell the tale!

Just go for it! You will feel great! Tell those cakes and cookies they have no power over you!
