Its beautiful outside, yay!! That means smoothie season and Im looking for fun new ingredients. Im amazed at the caloric variability in smoothies and have a few tasty low calorie staples, but there are just so many fun varieties to try! What do you put in yours?

Both my DH and I had one today. Mine was for breakfast. It had: fat free plain greek yogurt, strawberries, blueberries and flax seed (totally yummy). DH had: Banana, blueberries, strawberries, baby spinach. He said that it was not sweet enough with 1/2 banana, so he put in the other half, and then it was great! What do you put in yours?0

I don't know if this quite counts as a smoothie, but I just bought protein powder (chocolate) for the first time ever and I blend two scoops of that with one banana, 1 cup soy milk, 6 ice cubes and 2 tablespoons PB2. It tastes like a chocolate peanut butter milk shake so its really good for when I'm craving something sweet
It isn't exactly low cal but if you could play around with the portions and probably come up with something reasonable in the calorie department.0 -
Strawberries are my favorite base, and I use Emergen-C to change up the flavor of the smoothie. I always use protein powder and flax milk in my smoothies. Sometimes I use spinach and kale too.
I am also playing with a cranberry and rhubarb smoothie but haven't gotten it to taste quite right yet.
A frozen banana smoothie with no more than one cup of liquid will taste a lot like soft serve. I like to drop chunks of something for a dessert smoothie. Chocolate chips, granola, cereal, whatever.0 -
Spinach! I always forget that!0
