Man why do they do that crap. According to their Nutrition Facts on the side of the jar it says:

    1 cup popped

    Calories 15

and so on. Why not just say 6 cups equals 122 calories lol. According to this thing 6 cups is 90 calories that is a nice size difference!

    :ohwell:

I've checked several websites (including this one) and they all list air-popped popcorn as 31 calories per cup.

Hmm, beats me! I just looked at the back of MY bottle, and it says the same thing, 15 calories a cup, which would make it 90 calories for 6 cups. Yet, on MFP, under Orville R., it says 122 calories for 6 cups. Maybe all this time I've been eating LESS than I thought I was, which is VERY rare for me! Then again, I spray the heck out of it with the "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter" spray, and I never bother to count those cals, so, it probably works out about the same. MAYBE!

I entered the information for Jolly Time White popcorn kernals and the bag said that there are 120 cals for 6.5 cups popped. These are user entered so it is possible that someone entered it wrong or from a different package size that had different information. It is hard to say.

BrenNew- LOL well that is better then me eating it thinking I was eating 90 calories and eating 122! I think I am going to stick with my 15 calories for one cup popped as it says on my bottle of kernels.

Popcorn is one of the lowest calorie snacks if you are hot air popping. Once you start adding stuff like oil, butter, salt, seasoning, margarine the calorie count goes up. Microwave popcorn is not just kernels have a look at the ingredients, this is why Orville is a different calorie count to Smart Pop.

If you are enjoying HOT AIR Popcorn without the extras enjoy it without guilt. By the way avoid movie theatre popcorn.

For more interesting tidbits about popcorn have a look at the website below. Take from it what you will.

    Keep enjoying your popcorn.

Someone suggested cinnamon once, so I tried it, but, I just like the "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter" spray best! (that stuff is even great on corn on the cob!)
