It never fails.....

Every time I cut out the "bad" food and start eating really healthy and up my working out routine, in the hopes of shedding a few pounds, I get a head cold.

Someone once told me that it's because you're immune system during the "revamp /change over" is compromised and thus you're open to catching the flu if i'ts going around. Is this true?

And someone also told me that when you're sick, don't expect any weight loss as your body is holding on to everthing it can while you're sick? Is this also true?

Any thoughts anyone?

Are you getting enough vitamins? You might want to take supplements - vitamin c is good for colds

When you start training, what is your workout routine. What you a describing can be a symptom of overtraining with cardio. IOW, doing to intense cardio too frequently. Could that be the case with you?

I've been sick for a whole week now and I lost 5bs! LOL!!

I think getting the virus was just luck of the draw. I don't ever recall getting a cold or virus whenever I have switched from unhealthy eating over to making better choices.

I've actually always had the same thing happen to me, no clue why. Just use it as motivation to make this the last time you have to switch from an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy one!

    Thanks everyone for your advice.

I do take a mulitvitamin...and additional vitamin C and iron pills.
I have only upped my training by about 10-15% as I know any more than that at the one time is just asking for trouble. I run 3 times a week, bike another, weight train 2 days a week and rest on the 7th.
Perhaps it is a Jodi said, its due to season change. I just know that its very fustrating. I'm trying to lose weight to get ready for my race (if my shins hold out) and getting sick is interfering with both losing the weight and my training.
What's also fustrating is my craving for carbs has increased big time. I hope this is over real soon, before I gain back all the weight | already lost.

    What is Emergen-c rainbowbow?

This has happened to me as well, I assumed it was bad luck.

Whenever I finally get everything ready, and I am getting on track...

    Sick, sick, sick.

    Flu, head cold, anything...

    Weird.

Based on what you said, It think you are overtraining and it's affecting you immune system. I have the same thing happen when I overtrain. I get the cold. Youa re training pretty intensively and one taking one rest day per week. You are also not 22 years old. I'b build in 2, maybe 3 rest days per week and I think the colds will go away.
