So confused with heart rate monitor calculations

Just got the Polar FT4 today. Wanted to see how many calories my body burns when I'm not doing anything, so I wore it for an hour and watched tv. My thoughts were I would multiply the number of calories it said I burned by 24 and that would be the amount of calories my body needs to stay at this weight. Does that make sense? Well the HRM said in one hour of not doing a thing my body burned 200 calories, so by my calculations I would need 4,800 calories a day to remain this weight. That is ridiculous! What am I doing wrong or do I not have a valid calculation?

HRM's are not meant to be worn at rest.. so no, you do not have a valid calculation.
If you want to know what you burn all day then you need a Body Bugg/Body Media Fit.0 -
Maybe I should steal my hubby's FitBit. :-)0

That would work to... Fit Bits are another option to see what you burn in a day.0 -
You can use a FitBit or another option is to get a Metabolic Assessment done. If you go to www.newleaffitness.com you can put in your area code and find a location near you0
