Hi All! I would like to get a bicycle but am worried about the weight limit. I won't say how much I exactly weight other than its between 275 & 300 hehe. I haven't ridden a bike in 15 years (other than spinning class) so want to take it on the road, bike trails etc. I think I want a "Hybrid" bike & will definitly have to get a "big butt seat". I am not sure of brand/where to get one/what to look for etc. I would like a pretty reasonably priced bike aka no more than 400$(ouch). Any help would be great! Thanks :)

My personal favorite is Trek. Most bike-store brands work good. The mid-higher priced Schwinns are pretty nice as well. My wife has one and it's very nice.

Get a hybrid with a rigid front fork if you can.

    Also,
Specialized, Cannondale, Felt, Giant, Fuji, all good brands. I'm sure I left out a lot of other good ones.

    Avoid: Department store bikes.

A bike store will get you on the right size bike. This is paramount.

i agree with previous poster...go to a bike specialty shop, they will fit you with an appropriate bike. I have a hybrid by Giant. I love riding, trying to do it more. Have fun!

I did a bunch of research on a good entry level bike...and decided on the Schwinn Trailway. It has some higher end components like a shimano deurralier (however you technically spell it) and its a 28" hybrid. I am 5'9" and all the other cheaper bikes seemed small. I am also at 215 pounds and the seat was ok...though you can upgrade the seat which I will probably end up doing.

This bike had excellent reviews and was good for 300 pounds...and on sale for $199 at target this week....so a good starter bike before spending $500+ on a really good one. I just want to be sure I'm going to really use it before spending that much!
