So I am thinking about starting the C25K...does anyone have any advice on how they make it through? If my husband decides to join me, we will have to have our son in the stroller (my son is only 11 months old), do you think that will hinder the process?

  • My boyfriend and I just started this program last week and I just put my 18 month old in my jogging stroller ($100.00 Burlington Baby depot) and away we go. She loves it, sometimes I think the stroller helps keep me going and the BF and I will just switch off if I need a break (much more mental than physical) Think of the example you will be setting for your little one :) Good Luck and Have fun

You won't be able to push a stroller doing sprints. At all. You'll be able to do the jogs, but not the sprints. No sprints = no C25K. It's a form of HIIT and as with all HIIT there will be intervals where you are required to go at an all-out, "balls to the wall" pace. Can't do that? Find another workout program. That's the core of it. Dialing down the intensity of the intervals will defeat the purpose of the program entirely.

Really? I'm on week 6 and haven't ran across any sprints?? In fact, most of the advice given seems to be to jog at a slow pace so you don't give up.

I completed the program and I didn't do any sprints either. It was intervals of walking and jogging. Now I'm sure you could go at a faster pace and maybe that would be difficult with a stroller, but overall, I think it's doable.

Agreed. I have looked at 4 different sites/podcasts and no sprints

I haven't come across any sprints either. I actually just looked ahead at all of the days on my app and no sprints. Just walking and jogging. So there shouldn't be any issue.

Does C25K have sprints? I've never done it but always thought it was all about slowly building.

If you're going to run with a stroller, make sure your stroller is appropriate for running and it will take some time to get used to running with it. You will probably find that you'll be taking shorter strides and you'll probably have to slow down your pace.

OR.... swap up the sprints and baby stroller pushing with your husband so you both can do 'em..

    Good Luck!

I have never heard anyone call C25K a HIIT program with a "balls to the wall" pace. Perhaps you have seen a different version. I think most people use this one: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

While I did a different beginners' program, a friend completed the whole thing...walking and running intervals but absolutely no sprints involved in the original plan. Maybe the person that posted that about the sprints is talking about a variation of it. You'll be just fine with the stroller. Have fun!

When I first started C25k, my son was very happy to be in the stroller. It was a bit harder on the hills, so I had to find places to run that were more flat, but that was the only problem I had. One bonus...kids grow a little bit each day, so each day you work a little harder :)

Thank you everyone for the information!! I don't have a jogging stroller, nor can i afford one at the moment. Also the version I looked at had no sprints, but maybe if i get through the first few weeks, I might add my own sprints =)
