These recipes for spice blends are to replace store bought, high sodium, high sugar, MSG loaded products . The salts used are either sea salt or low sodium salt/ half salt, with the exception of Celery Salt.

Ranch Seasoning Blend
(no MSG in this one !)
1Tbsp. dried parsley
1/2tsp.dry mustard
2 tsp. dried chives
1/4tsp. celery seed
1tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp .dried dill ( optional)
Mix well. To use as a Dip: Mix 1 T. of mix in with ½ low-fat plain yogurt (some use low-fat sour cream). This is the one I put the dill in. Let set in fridge for a few hours to blend. To use as a dressing: Mix the same as for a dip (dill optional) but also add about ¼ c. skim milk to thin it down. Let stand in fridge to blend. Cals & fat depend on the yogurt, sour cream you use.
note- this does not taste just like the store brand, but makes it a lot less guilty to enjoy with salads, veggies, ect. And, No MSG like the hidden valley ranch packets.

Taco seasoning mix
NO MSG OR SUGAR IN THIS ONE !
Yep, read your packet- its in there I bet.
Ingredients:
• 1/4 cup instant minced onion
• 2 Tbsp. chili powder
• 2 tsp. paprika
• 2 tsp. crushed dried red pepper flakes
• 1-1/2 tsp. dried oregano
• 1/2 tsp. dried marjoram
• 1 tsp. light salt (optional)
• 1/4 tsp. pepper
• 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
• 1 Tbsp. instant minced garlic
• 1 tsp. ground cumin
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and blend thoroughly with wire whisk. Spoon mixture into a tightly closed container. Makes 6 packages (about 2 Tbsp. each) of mix. 2 Tbsp. equals 1.25-oz. pkg. purchased taco seasoning mix.
To make Taco Filling:
Brown 1 lb. lean ground beef in large skillet over medium heat; drain grease. Add 1/2 cup water and 2 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning Mix ( or a little more if you want it spicier) . Reduce heat, cover pan, and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes enough filling for 8 to 10 tacos.
