I got a monitor that watches your heart rate and calories, for Mother's Day. Does anyone else use one? The reason I am asking if they work, is because we walked/ran over 5 miles tonight and it shows that I burned 1200 calories, does this seem right??

What kind is it? If it's a Timex or one without a strap, then I would return it ASAP cause that number sounds super high.
I would say a 5 mile walk/run would prob. burn 300-400 less than what the HRM quoted you... but again, it depends on individual factors, how fast you were going, how fit you are, etc.0
