Jacobs Ladder

My gym just got a brand new Jacobs Ladder and I've tried it a few times last week. It states that it is low impact and good for lower back, knees etc. However, I could feel a nagging tugging the first day I did it. Second day a woman at the gym told me o concentrate on my core and that should help. Well, it did so I did it 3 days in a row. A day later I had horrible hip pain. Am I doing something wrong? I really like the challenge it presented me but I'm wondering why the hip pain.
