I really do not look as heavy as I weigh but I do have extra padding of fat, mainly my torso. Middrif, waist, oh, and, my back....I hate my back. I have found that I can sort of firm up these areas but can not lose the padding without losing more weight. By-the-way, I am a little over 5' 4" and weigh 150. I center my workouts around my core, hoping to firm more. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Stop doing core exercises. All you are doing is making your abs larger without getting rid of the fat layer above them.

Incorporate a weight lifting program. Look up New Rules of Lifting, Stronglifts 5 x 5 or Starting Strength. And eat at a small calorie deficit.

Tailor your strength/weight training to those areas. Alternate your upper with your lower muscle groups because you want to literally 'trick' your body and keep it guessing on when you are working on the muscle groups to begin with.

The weight you use: Dont go light. You want to feel the muscles being worked so consider lifting moderate to get used to it... Work up to a heavy-lift... 3 sets of 12-15 reps...
