Running Plan prior to first 5K

My first 5K is on Sunday. I'm only on week 7 of C25K so don't plan on running the entire thing (it usually takes me 2 to 3 weeks to complete one week of C25K anyway because I repeat things). On week 7 day 1, you run for 25 minutes straight and I did it! Then for week 7 day 2, you're supposed to do it again and I couldn't. Around 15 minutes I had to walk for a few minutes then finished the run. I was on the treadmill that day, and didn't feel well, so I didn't think much of it. Last night, I tried to do week 7 day 3 (again, 25 minutes of running) and again I couldn't do it. It was warmer than I normally run in and I had a heavy dinner right before, but now I'm thinking that I'm probably over-training. I think I'm trying to do too much too fast, in anticipation of this race.

So, my original plan was Tuesday is a rest day, then run Wednesday, walk Thursday and run Friday. Take Saturday off. After last night, I wanted to lighten that up a bit. So I thought perhaps I should walk Wednesday, take Thursday off and run Friday with Saturday off. I was thinking I could do a 5K on Friday night and see how long it takes (while both walking and running). But now I'm wondering if it would be better to only do walking the rest of the week to really give myself ample recovery time, since things have seemed so hard this week.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Last time I tried to train for a 5k, my issue was that whenever I ran for longer than a continuous 20 minutes, I was sore for days. You don't have to push yourself every day, this close to a 5k.

If it were me I'd run on Thursday as a "dress rehearsal" for Sunday, walk Friday and take Saturday off.
Also don't eat junk. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

LOL...reminders are good. I probably shouldn't have tried to run after having lasagna for dinner 30 minutes before!

I'm doing 10k on Saturday, for the first time in over 12 months. I ran 7k Saturday, 9K Monday and I won't run again before Saturday. If I could I might have done a short run 3 or 4 k on Wednesday but won't get time, then nothing until Saturday.
    Hope that helps.

Hahahaha!!! OMG, you ran after eating lasagna? I'm surprised you were able to hold it down. Ick!! I think you are gonna do great. Honestly, even if you aren't able to run the whole thing, think of how far you have come!! It's such an amazing journey and there is always an other 5K. Keep up your hard work and it will pay off.

So proud of you!! You're gonna kick butt!!!

I think that is a great plan. I know I need to be better about listening to my body too! It does me no favor when I run it into the ground. Good luck with your training... and your first 5K!!!!!!

I know, but that's what hubby made for dinner and the only time I can work out is after dinner! Couldn't even wait because it would have gotten too dark LOL.
