Temporary weight gain - When does it stop?

I've just joined the gym this week and my plan is to do cardio monday-friday and mix strength training with cardio on Mon, wed and fri. I've heard that when you first start doing this you will gain weight temporarilly because muscle is more dense than fat but my question is when does the temporary weight gain stop and when will the weight start to come down?
I'm planning on weighning myself once a month to try and avoid frustration

You won't see the scale move up just because of muscle gain in 1 week. If you start a fat loss program and you gain weight, then something isn't adding up. Start slow on the cardio 15-20 mins before your working and maybe 30 mins on the other days and go from there that way you have plenty of room to add to your routine.0
