What should my daily calorie intake?

I'm still a little confused by how many calories I should eat a day.

My Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is 1920. MFP says I should eat 1420 per day if I want to lose 1-2 lbs a week not including excercise. Now, if I excercise 4-5 days a week and burn between 400-600 calories should I eat all those calories back? Can I eat half of them? I know I have seen different threads on this topic, but when I search on Google I get different answers. Any help would be appreciated. I want to do what gives me the best chance to lose weight.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Brian

1420 is ridiculous for a man, that is way too low. You usually want to eat about your BMR and then eat your exercise calories back. Obviously though you eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full though, don't force feed yourself those calories. I would go with 1800 calories a day and eat your exercise calories back. However, keep in mind MFP tends to overestimate exercise calories so be careful.

Thanks for the information. I use a HRM to determine calories burned.

If I burned 1920 from doing nothing, how would I lose weight if I ate 1800 and ate my burn calories back?
