"name your price" - buying plane tickets

Hi everyone,
has any of you tried buying your plane tickets using the name your price option?

I ask because I've been trying to buy tickets to Argentina for weeks, and when I find a decent price, tickets have been sold out (this appears after I enter my info...).
Anyway, the priceline website doesn't explain much, other than to say that they'll automatically buy the ticket if they find one for the price you offer. Of course, it's a bit scary to do this since I don't have any idea of what in the world they'll offer.

Have you tried it? Have the tickets/stops/airport choices been terrible?
Thanks!

I don't use this for plane tickets but I use it for hotels. I'm able to score 4/5 stars for about $40-$60. Check this web site, it helped me with hotels , might be able to get some help on plane tickets.

I have used that option in the past for plane tickets. Generally you end up on a the flight nobody else wants to take and sometimes you have some serious layovers, like 8+ hours.

directorj: that website is a gold mine, thanks!

hbrittingham: long layovers is what I fear the most, although I read somewhere that, on average, they're not longer than 5 hs on international flights...yet, I can't trust that claim 100%.

I think I'll use this as a last resort.
