I am 25 years old, 5'5" and 138 pounds. My BMI is 23 which is supposedly in the healthy range and my health weight range is 111-150. As far as weight and body fat goes I am considered healthy. I have had my doctor run thyroid, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar tests, etc. All NORMAL. I eat relatively healthy with the exception of the last month but am getting back on track. I usually workout...mostly cardio 3-5 times a week. I am on the following medications: Celexa, Deprovera, and Ambien. I do have a sedentary office job. I feel good about my body most days, but the one thing I cannot stand about it is my round, inflated, mummy tummy. (I do not have children by the way) I hate it and it makes wearing certain things I used to love wearing uncomforable.

What I can't figure out is why I have it. I know no one on MFP is a doctor or anything, but I am reaching out hoping to get responses from people who have or had the same thing. I have had the tummy since 2010 after graduating college. I initally thought it was my birth control, been on it since 2006, but I never had the tummy in college so that didn't make sense. Then I thought it was my anti-depressants but I don't think it is that either because when I switched meds it didn't change. I drink my 8 glasses sometimes more of water daily...so I am pretty sure it isn't bloat either.

Has anyone had/have this problem?! What did you or are you doing to get rid of it?

You sound like everything is just fine so I'll offer this up: a friend of mine once had a problem with candida overgrowth, which gave her bloating and water retention through the belly. When she did a candida diet (no sugar at all, basically) it went away. That's the only suggestion I have for you to consider.

Aside from that, all I know is if I'm going to have fat left anywhere on my body it's going to be my stomach. I'm apple shaped and it's the last place it will come off. I would have to have well under 20% body fat to consider seeing any abs.

Could be anything hun...gluten? dairy? IBS? to name a number of things or just growing into apple shape? (I am apple shape and my tummy hasn`t gone, sadly)

Look at genetics, what about Mom or grandparents (female side)

If it isn`t medical then we tend to follow genetics with parents/grandparents etc

But you sound in a healthy range with your stats....so thats good x

OMG! I never considered this. I actually take a daily vitamin called YeastGard for Candida overgrowth. I have had problems with that since I was 18. I have changed my diet since I was that age and the pills help, but I wonder if there is some more tweaking I could do to my diet for my belly fat. Thanks so much for your advice!
