An unexpected way to eat less...

BRACES!!!

I got braces this past week and the first thing I realized is that eating presents a whole new set of challenges. Between the foods I cannot eat and the discomfort of eating in general i don't think keeping my calories down will be an issue. I love carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and quite a few other veggies that present a challenge (although avocado is still easy to eat...thank God) to eat. Then again having straight teeth at age 53 will be pretty cool.

  • Good for you on the braces! That is a very brave move at any age.

I have braces too, but I've had them for almost a year and I eat everything they told me not too (I'm an adult, and I love popcorn!) I agree, in the beginning trying to eat the good stuff like raw veggies was such a pain, along with rice (cleaning it out of my braces is horrible, but worth it)! Try just eating everything well cooked and stick to soft foods and ibuprofen for the first week. I made the mistake of thinking I could eat my favorite Chinese food two days after getting my braces put on...ouch!
